2017– I am dedicating this blog to help moms live a more simple and joyful life. If we are happy and content, automatically we will become better parents and live a more fulfilling life. For those of you who haven’t chosen a new year’s resolutions – here’s a few for you to consider.
1. Spend more time with God
The Great Provider: God Is Everything We Need, Everywhere We Are. Making more time to get to know our Heavenly father, everything in life will get much easier and more clear.
• Our shelter, refuge and hiding place (Psalm 91)
• The one who comforts us (2 Corinthians 1:3)
• Our healer (Psalm 103:3)
• The source of wisdom (James 1:5)
2. Declutter and simplify
I need to simplify in order to free up more time and energy for things that really matter. I need to get rid of clutter and time-wasting distractions so that I can make clear and daily decisions to teach my kids with purpose and focus on the things in life that really matter.
Starting in my home. One room and cupboard at a time. Then my phone, emails, paperwork enc.
3. Learn to want less and appreciate what I already have
“But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.”1 Timothy 6:8
Feeling like you have everything you want is empowering. It frees you from yearning for more and allows you to appreciate what you already own. I’m not saying you should not strive for more or wanting to do better and move forward. Rather to live in the moment. Be content with what you have int his moment and being thankful for everything, but still dreaming and striving to move forward. Wanting more should simply not steel your joy and should not make you feel depressed with your current situation.
4. Get to know and Love myself more…
Go on a journey getting to know myself. Where I came from, my dreams, hopes, personality, gifts and weak points. Working on those weak points and embracing who I am. Love myself enough to take care of my health. Eat better, exercise and be more active. Even if I have to dance to Lollos or take Jax for long walks.
If we love ourselves more, its easier for others to love as back and we create a great example for our kids. We are all precious and made in the image and likeness of God. Embrace who you are, because God embraces you every day, just as you are!
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 139:14
5. Stop Comparing Myself to Others
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” —Theodore Roosevelt
Keeping in the overall theme of 2017- to live a joyful life. To set unrealistic goals to achieve more what others are achieving, to be more like them, look like them enc, steals joy directly from our lives. Rather focus on you! What you have, who you are and be grateful for who you are in Christ. Be aware of your success and celebrate it. Remember that nobody is perfect and nobody is living a painless life. Everyone has their own journey and its definitely going to be different from yours. Don’t let comparing yourself to others, rob you of your most precious possession: life itself.
6. Enjoy the small things in life
Try and enjoy the small things in life. Life is made up of little moments. Spend more time playing with your kids without thinking about all the stuff you should do. Be present and take photos of all the fun moments you have together. Have a date night with your hubby, even if its at home after the kids went to bed. Put some music one, light a candle and just chat about anything except work! Whatever you enjoy in life, do more of it and try to enjoy the little moments many of us just stumble through like a zombie. Laugh more, life is not that serious.
Happy 2017! Blessings for you and your family. Remember to enjoy life, you only have one!
