I am so excited to feature our first Mumu of the Month! We will be featuring moms just like you, every month. To celebrate all different kind of moms. They will be sharing some of their favourites, advice and their own unique story. Meet our very first Mumu of the month, Chrisoula and her adorable boys.

Tell us a bit about you and your family?

What a privilege it is to be able to call myself a mother.  I am a mother of two beautiful and VERY ACTIVE boys.  I had my first born, Alexandros at 31 and my second, Luca, two years later. Just before Alexandros was born I decided to give up my career as an attorney and be a full time mom – a decision that I did not regret – not even for a moment.

Can you share what those first few weeks were like after you gave birth to your firstborn and how it felt to be a mom?

To this day I remember how daunting those first few weeks of motherhood was notwithstanding the incredible love I felt the moment I held my baby for the very first time. Too scared to bath my child, I would ask my mother if she didn’t want to help me. Alexandros was so tiny, I was afraid that he would slip out of my hands.

What do you love most about being a mother?

Being a mom is the biggest blessing one could ask for, despite all its challenges. What they say is true, being a mom / parent is the hardest thing you’ll ever do but most certainly the most rewarding. Its difficult to label what I love most about being a mom, but if I had to think long and hard about it then I would have to say spending quality time with my boys – be it outdoors or reading a book. Alexi is now old enough to help me garden and we have great fun doing it.

What are your favourite things to do as a family?

We, as a family love to do a lot of outdoor activities. Walking is a favourite as well as watching wild life. We are fortunate enough to be living right next to a conservation area that has water buck, spring buck as well as gemsbok.

Best parenting advise so far you got from someone?

The best advice I got as a first time mom is “sleep when your baby sleeps.” Don’t worry about the house being a mess. Your first priority is taking care of your new born baby and if you can’t function properly due to lack of sleep and stress then your baby will suffer ;  and that has been my advice to first time moms ever since as well as “don’t sweat the small things. Choose your battles wisely otherwise you will find yourself fighting the whole day.”

What do you do when you want to have “me” time?

Every person needs some “me time” to wind down, gather ones thoughts and appreciate the little things in life. My down time is going to the gym to get rid of all the frustrations accompanied with motherhood and well….life as a whole. Enjoying a glass of wine with my closest mates is also my ultimate down time – even when the kids are around.

What is the #1 baby/ kids item you can’t live without?

My babies comforter blankets. Makes everything just easier when they are upset.

If you could tell an “about-to-be first-time mom” something, what would it be?

My advice always remains the same. Sleep when the baby sleeps. Let your husband help with burping your child- they are better at it than you and you make them feel included as well.

What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you as a mom?

Alexi putting a key ring chain in his mouth and it getting stuck between his teeth.

How would you describe your parenting style?

I try be as strict as possible without breaking my children’s spirit. I once read that routine and structure is what children need most. They thrive on it as they feel secure.

I am a true believer that spoiling your kids is the worst thing you could do to them. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not referring to spoiling them with love and quality time ; they can’t get enough of that. I’m talking about allowing your child to do whatever they want and getting their own way each and every time.

Yes there are times where you just give in to their demands cause you simply don’t have the energy to fight, but as a rule I try and stand my ground.

Chrisoula’s Favourite things:

Fast Beauty Secret & favourite product:

Being a mom of two toddlers, there is very little time for ones self. However it is still imperative to feel and look your best at all times.   There is not always time to put make up on and put ones best hills on. When I only have 30 minutes to get ready, which is often the case, I make sure that I at least apply mascara and eyeliner on. With applying only that I already feel ten times better.

Time-Saver Tip:

My time saving tip for this week is pack the nappy bag or lunch box , whichever is applicable to your situation, the night before. It helps a great deal.

Go-To Mom Meal:

My go to meal as a mom is to ALWAYS have fruit on hand as well as breakfast bars. Kids get hungry at the strangest times, usually when you in a hurry.

In My Diaper Bag/ Mom Bag:

water and/or milk

a snack

extra clothing,

thermometer and pain medication.

Best place for a family outing:

Botanical Gardens or Pretty Gardens. My children love the open space and fresh air.

Favourite mommy products:

I have so many favourite things, from my handbags to my shoes but if i must pick a favourite I will have to pick my eyeliner. I don’t go anywhere without applying it.

Favourite baby/kids products:

For my children I must admit that I use the baby cologne by Johnson and Johnson.
