I love watching these two together. Jax and Hugo has an amazing bond. They can play for hours, laugh, be silly or just do nothing. They even walk the same, make the same funny faces and Jax looked a lot like Hugo when he was a baby. Whenever Hugo has to go away on a long trip, he cries and misses his dad so much. When I heard that we were expecting a little boy, one of my prayers I still pray, is that Jax and his daddy will have an amazing relationship.
“My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me. ” -Jim Valvano
The truly have an amazing bond. He listens to his dad more. Hugo is so good with teaching him something and with discipline. They both love sports and cars and all things boys love. The things that stand out most to me, about these two peas in a pod is, Hugo tells him so much that he loves him. Even when Jax gets in trouble, afterwards he will go to his dad and Hugo will tell him that he loves him so much and what he did wrong, but that he still is a good boy. I love it that his dad sees his unique personality and that he encourages him and tells him he is proud of him. This is so precious and I thank God so much that Jax has such an incredible and loving daddy.
Now I know, many of us did not grow up with an amazing relationship with our fathers. I had my own issues I had to deal with, but over the years I have learned to have grace, with my late dad, and remind myself that he was also just human. We strive to be perfect fathers and mothers and do our very best to do and say the right things. But we are going to make mistakes and that is ok! The most important thing is to give our kids lots of love, to tell them everyday that we love them and are proud of them. To show them, rather then just tell them. Be a good example and practice what you preach.
There are so many books and advice on parenting. The best advice and example to follow is just to look at our Heavenly Father and His love for us.
Something to think about: God is our Creator and Heavenly Father. He is the perfect Father. God is perfect in His love, wisdom, care, and concern for us. He knows us individually and loves us more than we can comprehend, and He wants us to find happiness. I think the relationship that we have with our earthly fathers in some why reflects on our relationship we have with God or how we see God. For instance if we did not get a lot of affection from our father and he was someone that disciplined more, then we can struggle to see God’s love for us and only see Him as a father that discipline and has rules. Definitely something to think about and revisit God our Heavenly Fathers attributes.
